"There is nothing more sad than an untold story."
Maya Angelou
In autumn 2020, British artist the vacuum cleaner invited 47 healthcare workers from Newham to his studio and filmed conversations with them about their experiences of the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in one of the hardest-hit areas of Europe. This resulted in the production EXPOSURE.
Today, three years later, these stories have lost none of their importance. On the contrary: they are extremely relevant for categorising and demonstrating how society has dealt with the problems that COVID has uncovered. After countless people applauded from their balconies for a brief moment, working conditions in the healthcare sector have hardly improved. Is this a case of collective forgetting or repression? And what is healthcare policy actually doing?
