It is undisputed in the sciences what a great influence education and socialization have on children's world of thought and world view. Children are shaped by their curiosity and openness to new things at a young age and their interpretation of perception is formed. Stereotypes, discriminatory, racist attitudes and thoughts are absorbed and internalized.
To what extent can we as adults actively counteract this, sensitize children, encourage critical reflection? The collective Vo da. invites parents, social workers, caregivers and teachers, but also all other interested persons to a critical reflection and exchange on racism- and discrimination-critical child education.
All participants are invited for coffee and cake at the theater bar from 2 pm. From 15:00 is the official start of the event, where Ify Odenigbo will give us an introduction to the topic. Afterwards, small groups can exchange, discuss and share knowledge.

About the Speaker:
As a teenager, Ify Odenigbo read books about racism from her parents' bookcase to understand the world around her and to frame her own experiences. She is now active in the Afro-feminist and queer-feminist network Bla*Sh and advocates for empowerment and healing for Black people and people affected by racism with Ijeoma Parenting, as well as more critical attitudes about racism among white people. Odenigbo is a physician, activist and mother of two white-read children.
