In the piece, the artist deals with derealization and depersonalization, two mental illnesses that can occur as a side effect of anxiety, stressful situations, sleep disorders or trauma. As an effect, an affected person experiences levels of emotion in which their perception of their surroundings and self-perception changes. The person finds it difficult to find a connection to reality and thus feels detached from their own existence and the world. Here, shifts in perception can occur in shorter phases to longer episodes. In the context of the dance-theater piece, the dancer and choreographer Sarafina Beck presents various states and processes that are triggered by her derealization and depersonalization. There will be a special focus on the experience inside, which carry this clinical picture. The audience should be able to immerse themselves in the state experienced by the artist herself. For the production, the fusion of different dance styles, as well as with performance media is worked. With her piece, the artist wants to create visibility and space for mental illnesses with perceptual disorders. For Sarafina Beck dance is her mouthpiece to communicate about her experiences with the outside world.
