The cross-institutional opening festival Fleshy Interface combines performance, workshops and discourse on the themes of physicality and touch. The body as a medium and as an instrument in the performing arts, the digital body, immateriality and the longing for touching and being touched become the focus of attention in our special time of physical distance:

As an interface between bodies and worlds, the skin is both boundary and transition, it protects and is vulnerable, bears traces of our experiences and, not least, marks political and social conflicts. While I touch, I am touched at the same time. There is hardly any other organ system in our body that performs so many different functions simultaneously as the skin. Touch is a vital element of our human orientation. Without the possibility of touching, we lose our orientation. Already from infancy on, it conveys to us the concrete experience of being with the world, closeness and togetherness. No words or gestures can express feelings of love, sexuality, affection, comfort and practical support so clearly. Touch opens us up to direct contact with ever-changing realities. It conveys presence and the possibility of compassion as well as the perception of relationships that make it clear that one is in touch with the world and with others. Similar to skin, the screen delimits and separates worlds and became our interface with the world during the lockdown. Borders are closed, encounters are regulated and skin, mucous membrane and body are stigmatized and politicized. Fleshy Interface searches for common points of contact, places the body at the centre and advocates an idea of contamination through collaboration and encounter.
Zurich's cultural institutions are pulling together to realize a week-long festival of encounters. On Saturday evening, the glittering Fleshy Interface Party with Asmara & surprise guest will take place in Stall 6.

Every guest is obliged to register in advance or at our door via gessnerallee.covtra.ch with correct contact data (name, first name, telephone number, e-mail, postal code) for the corresponding event. You will receive a confirmation SMS with your name and a code, which you must present to the cashier together with an official ID. When you leave the club, the same SMS must be shown again and you will be checked out again. The correctness of the information is strictly controlled. Guests without an official ID or with incorrect information will be turned away. Your data will be deleted after 14 days and can only be requested by the cantonal medical service in case of suspected infection. The right of information can be claimed from the patent owner.
