I am free,
a free individual,
free member of society.
I know the access, the secret terms,
perhaps names rather than terms, proxies and symbols,
I identify with them.
I accept the commitment,
resistant, pressure-proof, moisture-proof, durable,
malleable and adaptable at first, but more rigid than I like when hardened.
I find pleasure in the connection,
loose, heterogeneous, solidified without a bonding agent,
an accumulation of fine-grained particularities.
I am granted entry upon arrival,
I feel at home,
familiar glances and fleeting acquaintances, smells, sounds, resonance.
We no longer see clear contours,
we want diffusion, not unambiguity,
shadowy inklings and trust in the unknown.
We question the norm,
we dissolve, form, transform,
we keep moving.
We are not congruent, not stringent, not without contradiction,
we are all,
ourselves.
BE PART OF is an explorative theatre performance about the experience of external boundaries, the quest for singularity and the challenge of secular communities. In three acts, we confront our own responsibility with external attributions, struggle with the dilemma between the desire for freedom and being left behind, and start a movement.
