London-based producer Darren Cunningham aka Actress has earned an impressive reputation in recent years. He is now a respected figurehead in electronic music, moving between tradition, progression and bold experimentation within dance music. Cunningham moved to London in the early 2000s and began hosting his own club nights, releasing his first 12″ record soon after on his own label Werkdiscs, founded in 2004. Subsequently, the label released records by other up-and-coming young producers.
Together with Swiss R&B singer, producer and composer Milyma, Actress will create a whole new set of musical textures and compositions for Apples & Olives Festival 2022.
The collaboration may sound as organic as Cunningham's last work Karma & Desire (2020), but it will actually be created in part by the do-it-yourself AI program Young Paint and enriched by Milyma's piano arrangements.
Apples & Olives Festival presents a culture of cross-genre interplay between classical music and indie, rock, pop, jazz and club music. In the process, the forms of classical orchestral and chamber music mix with the band consciousness of the indie scene, and new combinations of acoustic and electronic music emerge. The festival will take place from March 15 to 19, 2022 in Zurich at EXIL, Moods and Gessnerallee Zurich.Doors: 9pm
