Tiran Willemse is a dancer and choreographer from South Africa based in Zurich and Berlin. His performance based practice is rooted in a careful attention to space, imagination, gesture, and sound, focusing on how they relate to the ways in which constructions of race and gender are performed, communicated and challenged. He studied at PARTS training and research studios Bruxelles and Hochschule der Künste Bern (master expanded theater) worked and collaborated with Trajal Harrell, Jerome Bel, Meg Stuart, Ligia Lewis, Eszter Salamon and with Cullberg ballet under Deborah Hay, and Jeftha Van Dinther. His work has been shown in Arsenic, Impulstanz Wien, Gessnerallee, Tanzquartier Wien, Sophiensaele Berlin, Palais Tokyo, Paris.
