Viral Reload: Holistic Memetics is a mixed media online work by Deva Schubert and Juan Felipe Amaya Gonzalez adapted from the live performance Viral Reload. The piece consists of a series of short video clips, animations, and augmented reality filters specifically made to be shared through Instagram. Viral Reload: Holistic Memetics addresses viral phenomena through posthuman performativity. It navigates and embraces the ambivalent state of avatars and online representations of the performers Deva and Juan Felipe. These bodies develop choreographic scores within an alpine and new age mythological landscapes creating entities that have the potential to blur the boundaries of their bodies, between the interior and exterior, between their gender identities, and even questioning their own ontology by becoming replicas of themselves.
