Hailing from Nairobi, Kenya and the African Rock and Metal Scene, Lord Spikeheart, real name Martin Kanja, has been a consistent influence on the Continent’s heavy music and underground culture for the past 15 years.
Best known as one-half of the electro-dystopian grind band DUMA, Lord Spikeheart has estab- lished himself as a versatile artist hard to narrow down to a single genre indicator. A earth-shaking performer of manic energy unleashing demons and angels on- and offstage.
His new solo live project is a triumphant recombination of hypnogogic drums, sludgy grooves with gabber kicks and nightmarish trap. Abstract mind-searing invocations oscillate between frenetic rapping and floating growls to captivate the audience into a myriad of visions and prophecies.
Infused with thought-provoking poetry and consciousness, lyrics resolve in tongues of the native Kikuyu, Kiswahili, and English. Lord Spikeheart promises to open a new chapter in sonic experi- mentation and mood- inducing scapes. Expect to indulge in mayhem.
Lord Spikeheart is currently working on his debut solo LP. First single and music video Emblem Blem with beats by Italian producer Talpah to be released in June.
